Some spring nuts are specially designed without the traditional metal spring,
such as the top of the nut, which is pre installed with a flexible plastic cover to
hold the nut. Instead of a coiled wire, they are designed with a plastic ring (or
ferrule) that basically acts the same as a coiled wire spring, but does not interfere
with the perforated side of the channel. The plain channel nuts size remains unchan
ged. These types of spring nuts rely on their spring components to embrace the inner
edge of the channel, rather than pushing the opposite position of the channel.
The spring nuts have serrated grooves on both sides of the surface on one side,
which helps to align them correctly with the channel rails and hold them firmly in
place during and after tightening.
The spring takes up additional space in the channel, keeping the nut flush with
the inside turning edge of the channel, so no additional operation is required to hold
the part in place when the part is installed and tightened.
Strut channel nuts or strut spring nuts usually have a threaded hole in the middle
to assemble bolts to secure the fitting to the strut. According to different post and
support structure in different installation places, spring nuts can be provided with
various hole sizes to fit in with a series of hexagon head screw (hexagon bolt) sizes
for installation and fixation. They also have serrated grooves on one side to help
align them correctly to the channel rails and hold them firmly in place during and
after tightening
